Authentic Worship

When I started this blog it was so I had somewhere to complain about my pregnancy, to post picture of baby boy Farmer (now known to you as Ryan) and that was about it. Since then I thought about posting my daily ups and downs about trying to lose this "baby" weight, but I am to lazy to even keep up with my posts (which gives great insight to why I haven't lost the weight). Recently I have been challenged to get a little more personal. Here we are (baby steps).

I have done so many classes on spiritual gifts. I have done every "evaluation" you can take. The thing is I already know that my heart was made for worship. Nothing has been more clear in my life. I heard recently that God never takes away a gift, we just cover it with sin. I think somewhere down the road this is what happened to me. I lost the fire. The desire to better myself. I started feeling a sense of entitlement, and might we even say that ugly Christian word "comfortable".

Let me tell you, know one knows how to put on the breaks like God does. He doesn't fool around. He will set you straight. Life seemed to become heavy until I just broke down. I had an awesome worship time with Him and prayed in a way I haven't prayed in a long time. This is what I learned about prayer:
  • You Don't need to be praying for a long time about the same thing until God thinks you want it enough and finally gives in. His time might be swift, His time might be long.
  • If you pray to be humbled= God will humble you
  • If you pray to be broken= God will break you
  • If you pray for character= He will build it for you
  • If you pray for forgiveness= He won't hesitate to give it to you.

What a gentleman He is.

I heard once that performance and worship is like oil and water, they don't mix. All I know is Matt Redman said it the best with the song Heart of Worship.

"I'm coming back to the heart of worship and it's all about You Jesus. I'm sorry Lord for the things I've made it but it's all about You Jesus"

Have I mentioned God is Good!
